SpontEO is an automation framework that supports tuning, configuration, implementation, decommissioning, and pausing tasks in the infrastructure. The advantage of automation is that the operations can be performed consistently and flawlessly using well-written scripts, in contrast to human intervention, where the possibility of error is greater. The system generates a detailed inventory of the system elements, which not only contains the list of the elements but also provides information on their resource use and the related operations.

The product supports infrastructure scaling and enables the dynamic tuning of configurations and resources. Thanks to the automated warnings, the resource demand of less used environments can be reduced, while the resources of overloaded systems can be increased as needed.

Connection between SpontEO and NIS2

The functions of the SpontEO system are directly linked to the cyber security control families required by the NIS2 Directive. As an important control point, account management is automated in SpontEO, including creation, removal and deactivation, as well as their logging. The system component inventory function ensures that not only the individual system components are registered but their tracking is also supported.

The management of updates can also be automated, which is in line with the requirements of NIS2, since in addition to the automation of updates, the information related to the completed updates is also stored, recorded and logged. The configuration options of the system are developed during the introduction, thus ensuring appropriate configuration according to the NIS2 Directive.

What is SpontEO and how does it work?

SpontEO is a web application, the main functions of which include the service catalogue, which contains automation scripts in the form of service packages and service chains. Console access, which allows managing virtual environments without having to open a firewall, providing additional security advantage for the purposes of NIS2.

Regarding its technological background, SpontEO is also ready to use PowerShell scripts, Ansible playbook and Python codes which allow partners to connect to the system with their own known technology and expand its services. A wide range of automation solutions, including virtualisation techniques, containerised solutions and cloud technologies, provide the basic services even in complex heterogeneous environments. SpontEO is also ready to integrate with ticketing systems enabling automated services to be launched through API based on requests from the ticketing system. This integration further strengthens the system's compliance with the NIS2 Directive, as managing cybersecurity incidents and quickly adapting services are key elements of modern cybersecurity frameworks.
